Job Description

Student Worker/Graduate Scholar - OT
JOB SUMMARY
The position of Graduate Scholar/ACHE Student Worker is a part-time temporary position in the ACHE School of Occupational Therapy or the ACHE School of Physical Therapy. The term of employment for the Graduate Scholar will typically occur in congruence with the established academic semester of the applicable program (generally 16 weeks in fall and spring semesters and 10 weeks in summer semesters). Hours will not exceed 10 hours per week. The Graduate Scholar serves primarily to support the faculty in their respective school of enrollment with teaching scholarship and professional service responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborates with faculty on teaching scholarship and professional service tasks
    • Examples of Teaching activities may include but is not limited to:
      • Conduct focused literature reviews to help instructors of record prepare lectures workshops etc.
      • Participate in exam review sessions before (to help guide studying) and after (to provide formative feedback based on the examination psychometric data)
      • Guide discussion groups in course settings
      • Help faculty identify and develop interventions for students experiencing difficulty acclimating to the academic rigor of a professional graduate program
      • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of lab practicals
  • Examples of Scholarly activities may include but is not limited to:
    • Establish experimental hypotheses under the supervision of faculty
    • Provide support for IRB submissions
    • Help prepare grant submissions
    • Draft article manuscripts and abstracts for publication / professional presentations
    • Work with faculty to draw statistical inferences from research data
  • Examples of Service activities may include but is not limited to:
    • Provide support with the design development and dissemination of outward facing materials such as Newsletters Quarterly Reports for the BOT etc.
    • Assist with the design of and support needed for community events
    • Publicize programs activities and events to the campus and community
    • Assist with student recruitment and the development of a pipeline into the CoHS / ACHE
    • Participate in ACHE PT & OT marketing strategy
  • Completes assigned activities on time effectively and efficiently
  • Assists with administrative activities as appropriate
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • Good Academic Standing in the ACHE OT or PT program
  • Earned minimum GPA of 3.0
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly in Word Excel and Powerpoint
  • Professional in all communication (verbal non-verbal and written)
  • Strong work ethic
Required knowledge skills and abilities
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Professionalism in all communication and interaction.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy.
  • Prioritize and organize numerous and varied assignments.
  • Accept and apply constructive feedback.
  • Provide appropriate feedback
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by ACHE and the program where the student is enrolled.
  • Proficiency in computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office.

  • May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies to include but not limited to pens pencils calculators computer keyboards telephone etc.
  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices conference rooms and on occasion to off-campus sites to attend meetings conferences workshops seminars etc.
  • May require travel or work away from campus.
  • Requires attendance at events representing ACHE both within as well as outside of the university setting.
  • Frequently required to work at a desk conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
  • Frequently required to see for purposes of reading matter.
  • Frequently required to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Occasionally required to lift items in a normal office environment.
  • Frequently required to operate office and presentation equipment.
