Job Description

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine invites applications for a full-time Associate Professor with tenure are sought in the broad area of musculoskeletal outcomes research with an emphasis on enhancing patient function and recovery following orthopaedic injuries and areas of focus include but are not limited to epidemiology of musculoskeletal pathologies musculoskeletal health and aging and novel use of digital health technologies to monitor and assess surgical outcomes. The position also includes a leadership role in integrating departmental clinical outcomes research and establishing collaborative relationships with orthopaedic clinical and research faculty.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who will work collaboratively with clinical and basic science faculty within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine and who will develop programmatic efforts to enhance collaborations with established outcome and epidemiology research efforts within the UW SOM such as the Clear Center () and the Institute for Translational Health Sciences (). Teaching of undergraduates graduate students and residents via active learning pedagogy is encouraged. The successful applicant will be expected to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion in musculoskeletal clinical research. This is a 12-month service period position (July-June) with an indefinite term length and an anticipated start date in Winter 2026. All university of Washington faculty engage in teaching research and service.

Salary

The base salary range for this position will be: $11667 - $15000 per month ($00 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.



Applicants must have a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field by the date of appointment. The successful applicant will demonstrate high quality scientific productivity and previous success in securing extramural funding from national agencies.
