Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Psychology Cognitive Science Behavioral Science or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in cognitive psychology neuroscience or applied psychology;
Research experience in cognitive or behavioral science with experience in experimental design computational modeling or quantitative analysis;
Experience with data analysis programming and AI tools such as machine learning frameworks;
Experience in computational psychology behavioral data modeling or cognitive architectures;
Knowledge of ethical frameworks for AI and human-technology interaction;
Familiarity with psychophysiological or behavioral research tools (e.g. eye tracking EEG facial analysis);
Interest in curriculum development or program building in AI and psychology;
Ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute psychological insights to AI-focused teams;
Awareness of psychological dimensions of AI ethics including bias fairness and mental health;
Ability to communicate complex topics across disciplines and to diverse audiences;
A curiosity-driven mindset and interest in shaping how psychology and AI inform one another.
Job Duties:
Conduct interdisciplinary research applying psychological theories to develop interpretable models of human cognition and behavior in AI systems;
Investigate and design AI systems that align with human perceptual and cognitive processes to enhance user experience and communication;
Examine the psychological and ethical implications of AI on user well-being cognitive diversity and social inclusion;
Analyze psychological data using advanced statistical methods and collaborate across disciplines to inform AI applications;
Develop and integrate AI-enhanced tools into psychological research assessment and intervention platforms;
Mentor students and faculty in computational data-driven and AI-based approaches to psychological research;
Produce scholarly publications and present research findings in academic and interdisciplinary forums;
Contribute to curriculum development and engage in outreach that connects psychology with the responsible development of AI.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply psychological theories of cognition (e.g. memory attention decision-making) to the development of interpretable and human-aligned AI systems;
Skilled in designing AI interfaces and systems that reflect human perceptual and cognitive processes to enhance usability trust and communication;
Knowledge of ethical social and psychological impacts of AI including bias accessibility and user well-being with the ability to incorporate these considerations into research and design;
Proficient in using statistical machine learning and computational techniques (e.g. Bayesian modeling) to analyze cognitive and behavioral data;
Demonstrated ability to work across fields such as psychology computer science and neuroscience and to communicate complex concepts to diverse academic and non-academic audiences;
Experienced in developing and integrating AI-based tools for psychological research assessment and intervention using programming and experimental design platforms;
Capable of mentoring students and faculty in computational and AI-based psychological research and contributing to curriculum development on related topics;
Skilled in producing peer-reviewed publications delivering academic presentations and engaging in outreach that bridges psychology and AI for broader impact.
