What Mindak is looking for
Mindak is seeking a creative innovative and forward-thinking Designer who strives for the highest standards of excellence. The ideal candidate is a natural problem-solver who thrives both independently and within a collaborative team environment. This role plays a key part in transforming architectural concepts into accurate prefabricated framing solutions that our field crews can rely on.
As a Designer at Mindak you will produce high-quality buildable designs that reflect our commitment to safety innovation teamwork and excellence. Your work will directly contribute to Mindaks reputation as a trusted leader in commercial wood framing across the Upper Midwest.
Major Expectations & Accountabilities
- Consult on architectural and structural plans to offer recommendations and solutions.
- Design structural framing components for prefabrication and field installation.
- Generate layouts estimates and panel profiles using MiTek software.
- Produce accurate cut sheets for production teams.
- Ensure timely delivery of shop drawings and submittals.
- Review and assist with truss designs and panel coordination.
- Provide technical guidance to employees and subcontractors based on shop drawings.
- Contribute to change order documentation related to ASIs and RFIs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of materials design standards and construction practices.

- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret architectural and structural plans.
- Proficiency in Excel PlanSwift PDF markup tools MiTek AutoCAD.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to clearly communicate with internal teams and external partners.
- Organized self-motivated and dependable in meeting deadlines and deliverables.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
At a Minimum You Need
- An Associate Degree in drafting or a construction related program from a two-year college or technical school.
- 1 year of wall panel design is preferred (MiTek Alpine or other similar software).
Qualifications That Can Set You Apart
- Associate degree in drafting construction management or a related field from a two-year college or technical school.
- 3 years of experience in wall panel design using MiTek Alpine or comparable software.
- Familiarity with modern prefab and framing methods is a plus.
- Field framing or carpentry experience is an advantage.
Working Environment / Physical Activities
- This role is primarily office-based.
- Regularly required to sit for extended periods.
- Occasionally required to stand walk reach with arms and hands stoop climb or balance.
- Must have close vision for detailed drawing and computer work.
- Some site visits may be required based on project needs.
