The Oregon Department of Agriculture is seeking to hire a Natural Resource Specialist to help support Hemp Program. If you believe that you are a good candidate for this position look no further and apply for the Natural Resource Specialist 3 (Hemp Enforcement Case Reviewer/Inspector).
As the Natural Resource Specialist 3 (Hemp Enforcement Case Reviewer/Inspector) you will conduct inspections and write reports pertaining to compliance and noncompliance with federal and state hemp laws pertaining to the growing production handling (processing) and sale of industrial hemp. You will also be responsible for drafting and serving legal documents regarding violations for noncompliance with federal and state hemp laws. This position plays a key role to educate and provide educational materials to assist growers handlers vendors and others in the industry for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to hemp. This position is expected to conduct educational and outreach efforts using a variety of media.
Our Natural Resource Specialist 3 (Hemp Enforcement Case Reviewer/Inspector) is a permanent full-time position and is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). The candidate will be working out of Deschutes County.

Working conditions
Some work may need to be conducted during evening hours. Work locations away from the office will vary including a variety of business public and field locations. Driving long distances in all weather conditions and some overnight travels are sometimes required of this position. This position may cover large geographical areas in which frequent and direct supervision is not available. A valid drivers license and a satisfactory driving record or the ability to provide a satisfactory alternate mode of transportation is required.
This is what you need to qualify
Three years of experience in natural resources. At least one year of the experience must be in project management research analyzing data conducting investigations applying pertinent laws and regulations or coordinating & monitoring project activities; AND
A Bachelors degree in an Agriculture Biology Plant Science Agronomy Environmental Science Natural Resource Management or related area; OR
A total of six years of related experience.
A Masters degree in an Agriculture or related education will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.
A Doctorate degree in an Agriculture or related education will substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
Desired Attributes:
Experience with conducting investigations
Experience with investigatory interviewing
Experience writing professional level factual narrative reports
Familiar with reading and interpreting statutes and rules
Candidate needs to be highly organized
Able to work well independently and as a team with little immediate supervision
