Position Summary
Career Objectives: Critical Thinking - Mentor will utilize and develop the ability to plan workshops plan cultural activities determine mentee needs and balance their own work academic and personal schedules. Professionalism: Mentor will utilize and develop good communication skills appropriate interpersonal skills and the ability to complete assignments accurately and promptly. Mentors will understand and demonstrate effective work habits adapt to various workplace challenges and act in the interest of the larger community and workplace. Responsibilities: 1. Mentor will meet with their assigned mentees at least twice a month. 2. Mentor will commit for the Fall semester with an option to continue for the Spring semester to the TRIO SSS Peer Mentoring Program. 3. Mentor will assist with marketing the program through creation and development of programs internal and external portal page social media posts. 4. Mentor will complete the required training 5. Mentor will sign and adhere to the Peer Mentor Confidentiality Agreement which will be distributed at the training session. 6. Mentor will meet with Mentor Coordinator at least once a month through scheduled or drop-in basis. Scheduling these meetings is the responsibility of the TRIO SSS Peer Mentor. 7. Mentor will submit completed Mentoring Logs to mentor coordinator within a week of meeting with mentee(s). 8. Mentor will enter their hours on Gannons system prior to timecard submission deadline. 9. Mentor will maintain appropriate Mentor-Mentee relationships while they are employed with the TRIO SSS Mentoring Program at Gannon University. 10. Mentor will not consume alcoholic beverages with mentee(s). 11. Mentor will meet with mentee(s) in public locations. 12. Mentor will assist with informing potential recruits about the benefits of the SSS program and University services and resources. 13. And all other duties as required
Physical Demands
- Be able to stand for 60 minute intervals - Be able to transport flyers and other moderately sized materials to various campus locations - Participate in Activities related to wellness cultural immersion and service work.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at Gannon University and has successfully completed at least 30 credits - Maintains a minimum GPA of 2.7 - Maintains active status as an SSS participant - Flexible hours according to mentor and mentee availability
