Job Summary:
This position is for an Occupational Therapist working primarily with a largely outpatient pediatric population also serving inpatient swing bed long-term care and outpatient settings. The OT will provide therapy services conduct assessments and develop treatment plans for pediatric patients with a variety of conditions. The role requires a minimum of one year of experience and proficiency in various assessment and treatment techniques. Housing and a vehicle are provided.
Location: Valdez Alaska United States.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of pediatric patients across various settings (outpatient inpatient long-term care).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
- Administer therapeutic interventions including but not limited to activities to address acute and chronic disorders functional activities and developmental testing/treatment.
- Utilize standardized assessments and developmental testing techniques.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and treatment.
- Transition seamlessly between inpatient outpatient and long-term care settings.
- Adhere to national patient safety goals and core measures (preferred).
- Implement feeding techniques (oral/motor) and disability sequence testing (preferred).
Required Skills & Certifications:
- One year of experience as an Occupational Therapist.
- Proficiency in assessing and treating pediatric patients with acute and chronic disorders.
- Experience with functional activities and standardized assessments.
- Skill in developmental testing and treatment.
- Ability to transition between inpatient outpatient and long-term care settings.
- Current Occupational Therapy license.
- BLS certification.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with national patient safety goals/core measures.
- Proficiency in feeding techniques (oral/motor).
- Experience with disability sequence testing.
- Prior pediatric and inpatient experience.
Special Considerations:
- The facility provides housing (1-bedroom apartment) and a vehicle for the duration of the assignment. Housing is available 72 hours before and 24 hours after the contract. Pets are not allowed. The vehicle is for local use only (within a 30-mile radius) and must be returned clean with a full tank of gas. Additional fees apply for tire chains and additional cleaning. Time off is approved individually. The clinician will not float to other units. First-time travelers are not accepted. Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility and have not worked for the Providence facility in the last 3 months. A pending license is acceptable.
Scheduling:
- 4 ten-hour days per week.
- 70 guaranteed hours per two weeks.
- The traveler may be called off for one 10-hour shift per two weeks.
- Block scheduling is possible.
