Job Title: Handymano Long term temporary
Location: New Rochelle NY Transitional Housing Site
Compensation: 50000.00 annual
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Handyman to join our team at a transitional housing facility in New Rochelle. This individual will be responsible for ensuring units are clean safe and ready for occupancy including turnover preparation and basic maintenance work. The ideal candidate will have general knowledge and hands-on experience in painting plumbing minor electrical and general repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and prepare vacated units for incoming residents including patching walls painting and deep cleaning.
Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs including plumbing electrical carpentry and door/lock replacements.
Troubleshoot and repair minor issues with toilets sinks lighting fixtures doors and windows.
Maintain building common areas and respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or residents.
Safely operate power tools hand tools and other equipment.
Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and notify supervisor of reordering needs.
Ensure work areas are clean and safe at all times.
Assist with furniture assembly trash removal and basic exterior upkeep as needed.
Collaborate with the property manager and site staff to address urgent repairs in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance facilities or handyman work.
Knowledge of basic plumbing electrical carpentry and painting.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or in small spaces as required.
Must be reliable punctual and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience working in residential or shelter/housing settings is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Must pass a background check in accordance with shelter program guidelines.
Schedule:
Full-time Monday Friday with flexibility for occasional weekend or emergency repairs.
