Information Technology Services (ITS) at Virginia State University (VSU) is seeking a Business Analyst (BA) to identify business needs analyze data and develop solution requirements to improve efficiency and productivity within the institution in close alignment with business strategies and goals. This position will play a key role in technology transformations and implementations across the University.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Documentation: Create detailed documentation of business requirements processes and solutions including business process models and reports.
Process Improvement: Evaluate current business processes and identify areas for improvement proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Testing and Validation: Participate in testing new systems and processes to ensure they meet business requirements and function as intended.
Data Analysis: Gather analyze and interpret data to identify trends and insights that inform business decisions.
Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills: Experience with business process modeling and general office productivity tools is required.
Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex information to stakeholders.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and generate actionable insights is preferred.
Required Experience:
o 10 years of experience working in technology domains. (Higher education preferred.)
o 5 years of experience eliciting and documenting business requirements and user stories in Waterfall and Agile project environments.
o 5 years of experience creating test plans and test cases.
o 5 years of demonstrated ability to work independently with some guidance on work product.
Education: A bachelors degree in Business Administration Information Technology or a related field is preferred but not required. A relevant Business Analyst certification (e.g. CBAP) is a plus.
Work Environment
Setting: Primarily onsite with options for remote work.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of IT Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC).
