Job Description

Main Responsibilities

Project management analysis and drafting

  • Lead the development of key consumer policy and consumer product safety workstreams including by drafting in-depth policy and empirical research reports and organising expert and stakeholder particular this will involve managing substantive projects examining key consumer opportunities and risks in the global and digital transition the impact of digital technologies on consumer transactions and product safety the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in consumer and product safety policy making and enforcement amongst other topics.
  • Lead the development of the OECD Global Forum on Consumer Policy.
  • Supervise junior staff in the Consumer Policy Unit including by providing guidance and reviewing work.

Liaison and communication

  • Participate as required in horizontal and multi-disciplinary projects of STI and the OECD that are relevant to the CCP and WPCPSs activities including on competition policy and the ongoing OECD Horizontal Project on AI.
  • Contribute to the organisation of and participate in meetings of national regional and international events.
  • Liaise and co-operate with experts from the private sector civil society and academia in connection with CCPs and WPCPS workstreams.

Qualifications :

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic background:

  • An advanced university degree in public policy economics or law. Some study relevant to consumer policy is preferred.

Professional background:

  • A minimum of five years experience in the consumer policy and/or product safety fields.
  • Confirmed experience in leading or co-ordinating international projects including managing relationships with high-level government and stakeholder representatives.
  • Proven ability to write evidence-based analytical papers that clearly and concisely address complex policy legal and economic issues.
  • Experience in applying quantitative analysis and conducting empirical research to address policy issues including through use of software tools for conducting surveys and collecting and analysing data would be an advantage.
  • Experience in managing large-scale projects including those involving procurement processes and consultants.

Languages:

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other with a commitment to reach a good working level.

Core Competencies

  • There are three possible levels for each competency. The level for each competency is determined according to the specific needs of each job role and its associated grade.

Please note that our Rules and Regulations stipulate that the mandatory retirement age is 67.

Contract Duration

  • 13-month fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal to a maximum of 36 months.
