As a UX Designer of the PEX team you will be responsible for the design of the end-to-end employee experience. Youll craft elegant design solutions across a range of personas and platforms at global scale and collaborate closely with product and engineering partners as well as multiple partner teams within the broader People Experience Technology (PXT) and Amazon Worldwide Operation orgs. You will also work on large scope products and long-term design visions to raise the UX bar for this domain bringing craft and expertise. A to Z is an AI-first product with generative AI elements such as a conversational assistant and a growing number of productivity tools.
To succeed in this role the candidate must be an innovative self-starter in driving operational excellence and a strategic big-picture thinker. The candidate must have proven the ability to succeed in a highly ambiguous fast-paced environment. Our environment requires the skills to work collaboratively and the commitment to take ownership when needed.
Key job responsibilities
- Reimagine and transform experiences to be AI-first.
- Assume ownership for the end to end product experiences and features across desktop mobile and more.
- Manage the user experience design of multiple mid-to-large-sized programs.
- Contribute to the vision for the organization and influence product strategic roadmap. Lead the discovery strategize concept design and launch phases of a project.
- Champion user-centered design culture. Drive creative process and collaboration with cross-functional partners to propose new ideas and strategies.
- Model behavior that exemplifies Amazon Leadership Principles in their team. Raises the design bar for the organization.
- Provide coaching and feedback with an emphasis on growing junior Independent Contributors and leadership capability.
- Create and drive adoption of design guidelines mechanisms best practices process and tools.
A day in the life
Youll work with a cross-functional team of highly capable designers researchers product managers and engineers inventing and iterating on end-to-end workflows and experiences. Youll develop your ideas using the right tool whether thats starting from a sketch or jumping straight to a prototype. AI is shaking up how we design and we are leading the charge. Youll bring disruptive ideas to life with strong judgement and taste. Youll move fast and embrace experimentation but will always maintain a high bar for craft and polish.

People Engagement Experience is multidisciplinary team creating truly meaningful products and experiences that empower and connect millions of Amazon employees. Our smart passionate and eccentric crew consists of 40 UX designers UX researchers visual designers and copy writers. We have a broad mix of experience levels tenures educational background skills and location. Were building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. While were focused on improving the lives of fellow Amazonians we also prioritize building meaningful connections with each other.
- 5 years of design experience
- 3 years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer experience
- Have an available online portfolio
- Experience prototyping (HTML XHTML JavaScript CSS Flash or Flash Catalyst or Axure)
- 2 years of mass-market consumer web / mobile products experience
- Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
