Summary
- Performs duties related to the receiving of supplies materials and equipment for the Comal County Purchasing Office. Inspects packages and contents for damage and document accordingly. Reviews and resolves discrepancies in purchase orders and receiving documents verifies accuracy and validity of documentation. Deliver received goods to various County offices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties include the following:
- Be at all times familiar with the Comal County Purchasing Office standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Purchasing Policies.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments rejects damaged items records shortages and corresponds with vendor(s) to rectify damages and shortages.
- Compares identifying information and counts weighs or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading packing slips purchase orders or other records and enters receiving data against electronic purchase orders.
- Using computer hardware and software to generate labels to tag items designated as County assets.
- Deliver received packages and other materials to County offices utilizing County vehicle.
- Receiving and inspecting returned products. Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures routes rates and affixes shipping labels on packed cartons accordingly.
- Operate various forklift types hand truck and manual pallet jack to move shipments from shipping and receiving area to storage or work area.
- Retrieve SDS Sheets for all hazardous materials items ordered label file and distribute to appropriate departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attendance is an essential function of the job.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES- Responsible for transporting goods from local vendors and taking packages to local mail stations.

- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or GED equivalent required; two (2) years warehouse experience working in a general office or warehouse related environment.CERTIFICATE LICENSES REGISTRATIONSMust have a valid Texas drivers license in order to operate County vehicles; must be able to provide a 3-year driving record.

- LANGUAGE SKILLSRequires the ability to read a variety of correspondence reports invoices requisitions forms logs catalogs etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence reports invoices purchase orders etc. using proper format and business etiquette. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise voice control and confidence.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSRequires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; to multiply and divide; and to determine percentage and decimals.REASONING ABILITYRequires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral or diagrammatic.
