DEQ has an open opportunity for an Engineer I.This position is located at 3800 Barrett Drive Raleigh NC 27609
It is full-time (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. TheNC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.
The Engineer I position will review funding applications engineering reports and engineering drawings/ specifications provide construction management for funded projects and serve as a liaison for the program to municipalities consulting engineers the public interest groups organizations and the Division.
Key Responsibilities:- Reviews applications completes timely and detailed reviews of engineering plan submittal.
- Ensures timely and detailed review of engineering drawings and specifications for compliance with Federal and State laws rules and policies and good engineering practices.
- Performs inspections of sites/facilities.
- Advises and provides engineering guidance and written technical/compliance documentation to staff and clients.
- Meets with applicants and their consultants to facilitate project development design construction and ultimately permit approval and site compliance.
- Valid drivers license required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
