About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is seeking a hardworking individual who is passionate about conservation and park visitation in Yathong Nature Reserve (NR). Created in November 1971 the Reserve covers an impressive area of 115604ha. Yathong NR adjacent to Nombinnie and Round Hill nature reserves was dedicated as an International Biosphere Reserve in 1977. The eastern half of Yathong lies on Cobar Peneplain while in the central section red dune plains of the Darling depression support extensive areas of mallee. This park is part of the network offeral predator-free areasin NSW which aim to prevent further extinctions and promote the recovery of our most susceptible species.

Our Field Supervisors coordinate and supervise the delivery of field operations for NPWS. Youll be supported by the Team Leader Field Operations and will play a critical role developing and implementing priority works and maintenance programs where no two days are the same. Youll be relied upon to manage the efficient and safe undertaking of works and maintenance duties in western NSW in the Central Mallee Reserves based at Yathong NR. Youll also contribute to the planning prioritisation and scheduling of works including undertaking administrative and record keeping duties. This is a hands-on role which involves assisting with pest and fire management weed control road maintenance staff and stakeholder engagement the construction and maintenance of infrastructure protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage sites and the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment. This role involves working on a rotating roster and you will be required to work on weekends and public holidays.

About you

Your strong communication and leadership skills will set you up for success managing and leading a dynamic team and juggling multiple projects at once. Strong organisational skills and adaptability will be a key skillset coupled with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders to ensure the delivery of programs and priority projects. Ideally youll also be comfortable using various office-based technologies to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness.

Essential requirements

This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit enjoy working outdoors as part of a team and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSWs most precious natural places.

Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment) which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (ie. moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters) within the 12-month probationary period if relevant.

The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties. Notes:
