JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist the payroll department in the processing of employee information for bi-weekly payroll answering employee questions regarding pay and deductions and working with the schools and departments to facilitate the pay process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of basic accounting bookkeeping and/or payroll experience on an automated system
- State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the processing of the bi-weekly payroll in the system including running reports verifying data printing and mailing checks and maintaining payroll files.
- Verify information input into system for new and existing employees regarding personal information salary benefits and deductions.
- Assist and respond to questions regarding employee pay and deductions.
- Assist with preparing bi-weekly monthly and quarterly reports as needed.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the payroll department.
- Input and maintain payroll information for tracking and reporting purposes as needed.
- Answer phones and questions and assist the payroll staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
- Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping methods practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of computer accounting software.
- Knowledge of public relations/customer service methods and practices.
- Knowledge of District federal and state rules and regulations related to payroll as it pertains to time accounting.
- Skill accurately and timely entering data information into Human Resources/Payroll databases.
- Skill utilizing computer databases to develop reports.
- Skill utilizing customer service techniques in responding to inquiries and complaints.
- Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Position may require climbing stooping standing walking lifting keyboarding talking hearing and eyestrain with repetitive motions.
- Repetitive motion and eye strain through extensive utilization of computer hardware and software Position may require lifting pushing pulling or carrying furniture equipment and supplies weighing up to 60 pounds.
- May be required to travel to in and out-of-district sites.
