Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist the payroll department in the processing of employee information for bi-weekly payroll answering employee questions regarding pay and deductions and working with the schools and departments to facilitate the pay process.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
  2. One (1) year of basic accounting bookkeeping and/or payroll experience on an automated system
  3. State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the processing of the bi-weekly payroll in the system including running reports verifying data printing and mailing checks and maintaining payroll files.
  • Verify information input into system for new and existing employees regarding personal information salary benefits and deductions.
  • Assist and respond to questions regarding employee pay and deductions.
  • Assist with preparing bi-weekly monthly and quarterly reports as needed.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the payroll department.
  • Input and maintain payroll information for tracking and reporting purposes as needed.
  • Answer phones and questions and assist the payroll staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping methods practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting software.
  • Knowledge of public relations/customer service methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of District federal and state rules and regulations related to payroll as it pertains to time accounting.
  • Skill accurately and timely entering data information into Human Resources/Payroll databases.
  • Skill utilizing computer databases to develop reports.
  • Skill utilizing customer service techniques in responding to inquiries and complaints.
  • Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Fast paced general office environment

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Position may require climbing stooping standing walking lifting keyboarding talking hearing and eyestrain with repetitive motions.
  • Repetitive motion and eye strain through extensive utilization of computer hardware and software Position may require lifting pushing pulling or carrying furniture equipment and supplies weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • May be required to travel to in and out-of-district sites.
