The Housekeeper is responsible for providing a clean safe and sanitary environment for residents staff and visitors. Immediate Supervisor: The Administrator of Neuvant House of Lawrence.
Qualifications: Minimum: A high school diploma or equivalent ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends holidays and overnights. Must be able to pass background checks. Possess a valid drivers license. Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances. Possess a full range of motion and physical strength. Be at least eighteen years of age. Comply with the tobacco-free policy of Neuvant House of Lawrence. Possess a valid drivers license a good driving record and reliable transportation. Preferred: Experience in housekeeping and/or memory care desired. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Areas of Responsibility: 1. Be aware of the emergency management plan and participate in required emergency drills and reviews of the plan. 2. Follows up with appropriate staff resident or other individuals regarding reported complaints problems and concerns. 3. Will maintain confidentiality in the workplace. 4. Uses tactful diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations. 5. Adheres to safety and infection control policies and procedures according to universal precautions and assures the residents are safe. 6. Acts as ambassador and public relations representative to guests and other off-campus visitors. 7. Adheres to dress code and maintains good personal hygiene practices. 8. Obtain assistance of another employee when attempting to lift or carryobjects in excess of 25 pounds. 9. Responsible for changing the residents bed linens. Job Duties: 1. Dust all tables chairs desks cabinets lamps/light fixtures and wall vents handrails ceiling fans baseboards exposed pipes blinds and other high areas regularly. 2. Check sofas/chairs for debris and vacuums dusts and spot cleans sofas/chairs. 3. Is required to move furniture to ensure cleanliness. 4. Vacuums carpets sweeps and mops floors spot cleans carpets. 5. Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms refills paper towels toilet paper and soap dispensers. 6. Cleans insides/outsides of windows and mirrors. 7. Cleans and waters plants. 8. Empties trash takes trash from staging area to dumpster. 9. Cleans inside/outside of washer/dryers empties lint traps. 10. Check for marks on walls. 11. Identifies potential maintenance issues and reports. 12. Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical/cleaning solution use and stocking of housekeeping supplies. 13. May be asked to answer telephone and direct calls when needed. 14. May be asked to assist in dining room cleaning tables after meals. 15. Responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations. 16. Plans and completes duties with minimal direction from supervisor works collaboratively with peers and other team members. 17. Attends and participates in staff in-services projects or committees as assigned. 18. Assures personal and staff compliance to all state and federal regulations including blood borne pathogens infection control use of hazardous materials and fire safety. 19. Assures personal staff compliance to Residents Rights. 20. Provide housekeeping tasks to residents room such as vacuuming emptying trash cleaning bathroom bed making and bed changes and laundry. 21. Other duties as assigned by administrator. 22. Monitor common areas to assure residents safety. 23. Support the resident-centered activity program. 24. Assist in helping residents to remember and participate in activities. 3 Housekeeper Performance Expectations 1. Model the mission and principles of the Neuvant House of Lawrence. 2. The Neuvant House of Lawrence maintains a safe work environment through training and continuous improvement. The Administrator and employees are expected to act professionally and objectively at all times. The Administrator and employees are required by state law to report suspected abuse neglect or exploitation of residents receiving services. The Administrator and employees will be trained and aware of possible physical exposures such as chemical/cleaning solutions body fluids infection odor and behaviors and must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday both inside and outside of the facility. The Administrator and employees must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so those requirements of the position can be met. The Administrator and employees must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position. Physical Demands The housekeeper must be able to lift 40 pounds walk 4 miles daily and be able to lift carry stand bend squat crawl reach push pull twist and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of addition the housekeeper must be able to use all types of cleaning equipment including a step ladder/stool. Housekeepers must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
