Job Description

Position Summary
The Manager of Human Resources Information Systems position is responsible for managing and overseeing the departments data management and technology needs as it relates to Banner and other technology sources necessary for the efficient operations of the department.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Manages and oversees the Banner HR module which includes: staying abreast of releases and determining which releases/upgrades are appropriate and coordinate implementation with STS . Assesses departmental needs and determine how current processes may be enhanced through the use of Banner or other resources. Works with HR staff to evaluate identify and recommend software applications to enhance the services offered by HR and serve as the lead on any implementations. Enters and maintains all employee (faculty staff in-house temporaries seasonal employees) data in Banner in a timely and accurate manner. This includes generating an ID number entering all personal data (name DOB SSN etc.) benefits deductions and salary information; Develop analyze and maintain a variety of standard and robust reports and queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. (e.g. IPEDS AAUP Institutional Profiles non-discrimination benefits etc). Produce data dashboards that allow easy data accessibility. Assist the Director of Human Resources as needed (e.g. reports data analysis tuition waiver etc.) Investigates and resolves data quality issues and escalate situations as needed. May supervise HR Specialist. Participates in the thorough testing and implementation efforts of new and existing systems to optimum operation.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree required preferably in Computer Information Systems Human Resources Management or Business Administration with six or more years of work related experience. Experience with Ellucians Banner software strongly preferred. Must possess excellent report writing skills preferably with SQL and Microsoft Access. This position requires excellent attention to detail organizational skills and initiative. Maintaining confidentially and the ability to address matters with tact and diplomacy are a must. A strong customer service focus is essential. The ability to interact with a diverse population is a must. Good oral communication skills are required when communicating with employees regarding any Human Resources matter and while interacting with the public. The incumbent must be able to provide written instructions for the Human Resources staff on the use of the Banner software. The ability to read analyze and interpret software documentation is required. Good proofreading skills are essential. To perform this job successfully an individual must have advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint and Access/Crystal Reports). In addition to producing correspondence duties may involve assignments that require creating routine and complex reports spreadsheets that include formulas and pivot tables tables PowerPoint presentations newsletters computer-generated graphics use of Lotus Notes Banner Financial Module and Internet navigation. Knowledge of Banner SQL Peoplesoft preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
This position may have supervisory responsibility for one non-exempt position HR Specialist.
