Job Description

Work directly with the Distribution Operations Manager to oversee the day to day operations and performance of the second shift Receiving Department in Dublin Virginia. Lead develop and work alongside a team of warehouse associates in all general distribution related activities such as receiving put away picking customer service inventory control and facilities management. Provide direction planning and motivation to reach the highest levels of service while keeping expenses aligned with corporate objectives.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing distribution environment including at least 2 years at a Distribution Center management level.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) leadership organization customer service time management and interpersonal skills required.
  • Analytical skills required including frequent problem solving.
  • Must have extensive knowledge as to how to operate forklifts platform lift and clamp trucks.
  • Excellent computer skills including Outlook and Excel. Extensive experience using ERP systems and barcode processing for order and inventory management; AS/400 (JD Edwards) operating system is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily load planning and scheduling for inbound shipments.
  • Manage daily labor planning to balance warehouse workload between activities such as receiving put away and picking.
  • Provide direction motivation and support to a diverse distribution center team.
  • Foster a hands-on management style through leading by example.
  • Provide excellent customer service problem solving and communication between company departments divisions and external customers.
  • Maintain the integrity of the inventory through adhering to inventory control guidelines managing OS&D and reducing inventory variances.
  • Monitor storage capacity levels and ensure products are safely stored at all times.
  • Ensure that distressed inventory and freight claims are followed through to resolution.
  • Maintain focus on employee relations training cost reduction safety continuous improvement service level objectives and staff skill levels.
  • Support other Distribution Centers manufacturing facilities and warehouses to ensure success of the overall supply chain.
  • Assist with daily HR activities and initiatives to ensure all areas are in compliance and meet state and federal guidelines as directed by corporate.
  • Comply with all C-TPAT certification requirements.
  • Develop standards routines and cross training programs to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations.
