POSITION: Assistant Business Support Officer

- Department/Unit: Clinical Research Unit Neurology
The Department
Neurology is a developing specialty within Alfred Health and recent investment has produced significant growth in this area particularly with regard to research and clinical trials. Neurology at Alfred Health consists of inpatient units and a range of specialised outpatient clinics.
Position Summary
- Responsible for maintaining the Units financial records including receipting and banking all monies received processing of invoices and internal forms for payment.
- Arranging patient cost reimbursement in consultation with trial coordinators
- Maintaining the records of income and expenditure for all trial accounts
- In conjunction with the departmental Business Manager maintaining the complex and separate records of income and expenditure.
- Participate in budget negotiations with sponsors to ensure adequate resources for study costs using standard costing template.
- Update financial budgets and tracking of periodic payments.
- Maintaining units supplies and monitoring progress of invoices orders and payments with clinical research organisations.
- Communicating with the departmental Financial Accountant and Business Manager
- Tracking employee contracts and renewals
- Submitting recruitment and renewal requests and track progress
- Contributes to statistical databases of trials and collates and reports information as required
- Assists with the billing for archiving
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essentia
- Demonstrated high level of computer literacy including MS Office Excel and Word and other financial programs/tools that are used in the health sector and in health economic activity and analysis.
- Demonstrated strong customer service focus business ethics and commitment to team work.
- Demonstrated competency in financial management including analysis forecasting budgeting reconciliation accounts receivable and payable using current information management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to identify commercial opportunities and to develop appropriate scoping/business plans.
- Highly organised with prioritisation of tasks in a busy environment whilst maintaining accuracy and high business ethic code of conduct.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- High-level written and communication skills with the ability to formulate financial and business plans and to write ongoing reports
Desirable
- Experience working within the Health Sector.
- Experience managing contracts including liaising with legal departments.
Qualification Required
- Experience in financial management with proven ability to interact with others in the day to day business management activities required in a busy multifaceted health sector environment including staff supervision and commitment to maximising potential of staff.
Performance Management
- Annual Performance development will be undertaken by the Trials Manager and Director
