Job Description Summary
Responsible for the coordination planning preparation presentation and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities during the day evening or weekend via various instructional delivery formats including face-to-face hybrid online and remote. Face-to-face and hybrid classes may be offered on any Prince Georges Community College campus or at off-campus locations. Instruction is primarily designed to serve adult learners with a focus on senior students aged 60 and older. The instructor must remain current in their discipline and continuously explore teaching methods and strategies that effectively engage older adult learners. This includes organizing and delivering instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles life experiences and physical or cognitive considerations common to senior learners. The instructor must also implement appropriate assessment tools that monitor participation and learning progress. The instructor is expected to participate in related activities such as professional development and curriculum design to support the goals of lifelong learning for the senior population
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Associates degree in related fields such as Kinesiology Exercise Science Health Education Gerontology Dance or Physical Education required. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree depending on the course content/subject matter. Professional certification licensure registry or other credentialing as required for the specific discipline or content area. Specialized experience in teaching or working with older adults (age 60) including an understanding of age-related learning needs cognitive and physical changes and how these affect instructional strategies.
