Position Summary
Career Readiness Learning Objectives: Critical Thinking - The intern will identify and respond to needs based on CSC events and programs related to community engagement. Teamwork - The intern will build and maintain collaborative relationships with the CSC intern team and professional staff as well as community partners. The Center for Social Concerns ( CSC ) equips students and campus colleagues to engage with Gannons communities both local and global through purposeful service exploration and action for the common good. The Community Engagement Intern will primarily provide support for the CSCs community engagement initiatives through the areas outlined below. CSC Generalist Intern responsibilities may include: 1. Assist with planning management and execution of signature community engagement programs like GIVE Day and Day of Caring 2. Assist with preparing documentation and supplies for CSC programs and events including but not limited to the ABST programs advocacy programs the Gannon Goodwill Garden the Saint Joseph House for Faith and Action and more. 3. Assist with collection collation and editing of CSC forms and data as directed. 4. Provide office/reception coverage as assigned 5. Assist with social media and marketing of CSC programming 6. Manage program supplies (keep track of current inventory and assist with choosing and ordering new items) 7. Assist with representing the CSC at campus events. 8. Assist the CSC Student Intern team and professional staff with other office projects as assigned including supporting needs in other areas within Mission Immersion and the Student Experience division.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift and carry objects and boxes of items to locations on and off campus is helpful but not required.
Required Qualifications
Candidate must have: Interest in the mission and programs of the CSC including interest in learning more about community service culture and global issues. Openness to learning and to personal and professional growth including development of oral and written communication skills. Openness to learning and using technology platforms such as Canva Microsoft Office Applications (we use Teams Word Excel PowerPoint Forms and others regularly) and social media and other web platforms the CSC utilizes. Good organizational and time management skills in order to manage and complete multiple projects. Ability to work on a team. Good academic and conduct standing at the university.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful candidates must be available for work during weekday business hours 8-4:30. Some evening and weekend hours may be requested i.e. to represent the CSC at an admissions event or at a CSC event on campus.
