Description

Full time (80 hours biweekly)

Monday - Friday Day

Weekend and holiday rotation

Position Function: Under the direction of Clinical Manager(s) and staff therapist(s) or therapy assistant(s) assists in the general operations of the assigned work area. As assigned may also guide activities of the volunteers and part-time students. Maintains supply inventory and general housekeeping within the department. May assist with clerical duties and patient transportation as directed. May be required to travel between clinical sites to assist in provision of care.



Responsibilities

Job Class Specifics:
the patient treatment areas in a constant state of preparedness for patient care in clean orderly manner; ensures that equipment/supplies are returned to proper storage areas in a timely manner following use.
proper inventory and prepares all necessary linen equipment and necessary patient supplies for the patients treatment as appropriate for the patients plan of care in a timely manner.
needed plans for the timely transport arrival and departure of patients from the treatment area in the absence of transport personnel or in assistance to primary care staff.
with basic patient care needs include toileting; preparing and tearing down booth gathering necessary treatment supplies wiping down equipment between patient use according to operational protocol etc.
patient behavior and response during and after treatment; relays information to care provider as appropriate.
in positioning lifting turning applying/using special equipment during patient care; utilizes proper body mechanics and procedures to ensure patient and personal safety.
all equipment is cleaned and properly maintained as per departmental policy and accrediting organizations.
necessary answers phone and processes voicemails; conveys thorough and accurate information to the appropriate individuals.
departmental data as assigned by the therapist or supervisor.
at scanning.
inpatient therapists daily patient schedule in accordance with operational processes.
Rehab Huddle and uses input for appropriate scheduling.
with processes and activities necessary to open and/or secure department at closing.
Rehab treatment minutes; follows up as appropriate.
15. Assists with OP therapy scheduling as needed and in accordance with operational processes.
with updating operational manuals.

Physical and Mental Requirements: Good physical condition with the ability to lift support and move patients of varying weights; able to be on feet for long periods of time positive mental attitude to maintain rapport with patients visitors and staff.
Stands frequently on carpet tile or linoleum during a normal shift.
Walks throughout hospital frequently.
Sits on hard or cushioned furniture occasionally.
Lifts up to 20 pounds laterally to and from floor to waist level on an occasional basis.
Pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
Carries up to 15 pounds for distances of up to 50 feet occasionally.
Occasionally bends from higher to lower levels.
Frequent twisting kneeling and squatting during a normal shift.
Reaches occasionally to heights of up to 2 feet overhead.
Occasional twisting from the upper torso.
Manual dexterity and digital sensitivity (i.e. operate keyboard program equipment etc.)
Good hand/eye coordination.
Near-visual acuity with color perception in order to view computer screen decipher fine print.
Auditory acuity; able to hear phone conversation overhead pagers alarms normal voice tones when not facing the individual.
Mental Demands:
Possesses good general mental health.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
Must establish priorities among the essential functions of the job and coordinate these functions with others.
Ability to speak read and write the English language.

Working Environment: Work is performed in a clean clinical environment. Possible exposure to patients with infectious diseases or to bodily fluids which may contain infectious agents. May also be required to work in the satellites.

Reporting Structure:
A. Formal Reporting and Chain of Command - Reports to an assigned Clinical Manager and in his/her absence to the administrative designee.
B. Informal Reporting Relationships - Establishes and maintains positive and effective working relationships within the Physical Medicine Department with other departments physicians care providers or customers. These behaviors and relationships will be assessed at least annually as identified within the competency structure.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Standards

Education: High School graduate required with course work in medical terminology typing computer use and nurse attendant training preferred.

Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. One year of work experience in direct patient care with Nurses Aide or EMT training or three years of direct patient care experience in an OT or PT department of a health care facility preferred. Must have an understanding of medical terminology disease entities and treatment including basic infection control procedures. Typing at a rate of 45 wpm clerical and computer skills are required.

Certifications/Licensure: CPR required
