Job Description

The proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine at Xavier University (XUCOM) invites applications for a 12-month position beginning in the Fall of 2025. Tenure-track and non-tenure-track can be considered. The Chair of the Division of Microbiology Immunology and Pathology will oversee integration of division faculty into the osteopathic medical curriculum. This position is involved in the creation development and delivery of the osteopathic medical curriculum the creation and evaluation of assessments and provides mentorship and guidance for division faculty. This position works closely with other Biomedical Division Chairs the Biomedical Sciences Department Chair and the Associate Dean of Faculty and Medical Programs. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Faculty and Medical Programs.

Qualifications

A PhD DO or MD degree is required. A minimum of 5 years of involvement in medical education in one of the disciplines of the division (microbiology immunology infectious disease mycology) with progressive responsibility contributing to curriculum development. Preference will be given to candidates with leadership experience as a Department Chair or in the mentorship of junior faculty. Experience with writing assessment items for NBOME or NBME is desirable.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and deliver curricular activities
  • Advises and mentors medical students through the preclinical curriculum
  • Recruits and mentors junior faculty within their division
  • Collaborates with XUCOMs leadership to ensure COCA and ACGME accreditation compliance
  • Reviews faculty/staff/student performance
  • Contributes to the mission of the college through teaching service and scholarship
  • Other duties as assigned

Position: Twelve-month tenure or non-tenure track position
