Job Description

Job Title: Occupational Therapist (Public School Setting)
Reports To: Director of Special Education / Campus Principal
Location: Dublin ISD/Lingleville ISD Dublin Texas Southwest Erath County Special Education SSA
Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Contract

Position Summary:

The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides school-based therapy services to support students with disabilities in accessing and participating in their educational programs. The OT works collaboratively with educators administrators parents and related service providers to evaluate students develop goals and implement services in accordance with federal state (Texas Education Agency) and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct screenings evaluations and re-evaluations in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Section 504 and state guidelines.

  • Participate in Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings by providing evaluation results progress updates and recommendations regarding occupational therapy services.

  • Develop measurable Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives related to occupational therapy needs.

  • Deliver direct consultative and/or integrated therapy services as outlined in the IEP or Section 504 Plan.

  • Provide documentation including evaluation reports therapy notes session logs progress reports and Medicaid billing (if applicable) in compliance with TEA and district requirements.

  • Recommend implement and train staff in the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment to support student success.

  • Serve as a resource to instructional staff by providing training and strategies to support students fine motor sensory processing and functional performance.

  • Maintain compliance with timelines documentation standards and service delivery as required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and district policies.

  • Assist ARD committees with decision-making regarding initiation continuation modification or dismissal of occupational therapy services.

  • Support student transitions (e.g. Early Childhood Intervention to school elementary to secondary and school to post-secondary life) through participation in planning and evaluation.

Qualifications:

Education and Licensure:

  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Valid Texas licensure as an Occupational Therapist through the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE).

  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

  • Registration as a provider with Medicaid (preferred if applicable to the district).

  • Valid Texas drivers license (if travel between campuses is required).

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a school or pediatric setting.

  • Familiarity with Texas-specific educational processes including ARD meetings TEA guidelines and the Texas Behavior Support Initiative (TBSI) is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of IDEA ADA Section 504 and the Texas Administrative Code related to special education services.

  • Strong communication collaboration time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across diverse teams and cultural backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in documentation software educational platforms and therapy tools.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in public school settings including classrooms therapy rooms playgrounds and campus facilities.

  • Travel may be required between campuses or to attend ARD meetings at different sites.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to move and assist students physically during therapy sessions.

  • Frequent standing lifting kneeling squatting and positioning required during service delivery.

  • Use of hands and arms for fine motor activities and therapeutic exercises.

Salary and Benefits:

If full time with Dublin ISD:

  • Based on districts Occupational Therapist salary schedule and years of experience.

  • Eligible for benefits under the Dublin ISD package including health insurance TRS retirement and paid leave days.

If contract with SWECSE SSA:

  • $50 per hour

$100 per student evaluation
