The Cost Engineer will be responsible for developing technical and tooling variable cost estimates for components using activity-based costing methodologies working with bills of materials (BOMs) drawings and/or samples. The successful candidate will bring subject matter expertise to support engineers and buyers at the working and executive management levels throughout all phases of development. The Engineer must be inquisitive persistent and innovative. They must have the ability to analyze supplier quotes and agree on appropriate D&D. Additionally they must be able to interact with the team on design-to-cost and benchmarking initiatives including cost per part and tooling costs. The successful candidate must understand the elements of cost per part and investment in various typical manufacturing processes for product production. Dealing with suppliers.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Finance Engineering or Manufacturing from an ABET-accredited university and experience in design release or processing or other credentials along with relevant experience developing EDD variable and/or tooling costs for automotive components.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple programs and cost details simultaneously.
Strong leadership interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Optional: Experience in release and/or interior design costing of commodity products.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering.
Advanced degree in Business Administration.
Proficiency in NX and Teamcenter.
Experience with activity-based costing or cost model development.
Engineering degree or equivalent (must be able to read engineering drawings).
Knowledge of cost reduction and cost improvement ideas.
