Job Description

JOB TITLE: Turnaround Manager for Instructional Leadership - North High SchoolREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalLOCATION: Worcester Public Schools Worcester MassachusettsPOSITION PURPOSE:The Turnaround Associate Principal holds a pivotal role within the schools leadership structure supporting the Principal in the administration of the advancement of instructional quality ensuring fidelity to Worcester Public Schools High Quality Teaching and Learning documents curriculum maps common assessments as well as a strong culture and expertise in data literacy. This position carries explicit accountability for the attainment of efficient and effective educational results for students and the school to support all students. This position functions as the lead instructional support with the school Principal to implement turnaround strategies to ensure consistency and fidelity to moving the school forward. The Worcester Public Schools recognizing its essential function in the lives of students and their families is dedicated to guaranteeing the success of all students by preparing them to be future-ready as defined by the established Vision of a Learner. A primary focus of this role will be to implement high-caliber instructional methodologies to ensure all students achieve their objectives. This role necessitates collaboration with faculty staff students and the community to facilitate academic distinction and a secure learning JOB FUNCTIONS (may be included along with other responsibilities)Instructional Leadership:- Assist in the development implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs.- Support the full implementation of district developed curricula assessment and student data cycle to ensure maximum student achievement- Provide support and professional development opportunities for teaching staff to enhance instructional practices.- Analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to address them.- Collaborate design and lead professional learning communities to foster a culture of collaboration and support to enhance a culture of continuous learning focused on student results - Be focused on results and have proven success in increasing student achievement and staff performance through the use of data (identify relevant data; collect and analyze data; develop action plan supported by data); - Influence and motivate others to reach their potential - Be a solution-oriented and creative problem solver with experience in data analysis and creating and managing systems; Supporting Systems Change:- In collaboration with the school building principal and leadership team create implement and monitor school accountability plans that ensure the success of all students - Work in partnership with the district instructional leadership teams as well as state support to support all teachers in instructional excellence.- Be an integral leader in the design of a clear vision for the school as well as the implementation support and evaluation of that vision.- Influence and motivate others to reach their potential - Be a solution-oriented and creative problem solver with experience in data analysis and creating and managing systems;- Set high expectations and communicate them to a variety of stakeholders; School Community Relations:- Serve as a liaison between the school and caregivers addressing concerns and promoting active engagement. - Organize and participate in school events meetings and activities to strengthen community involvement around instructional excellence- Collaborate with feeder schools and community organizations to support student transitions and community Duties:- Assist in the evaluation of instructional staffs performance providing feedback and support for professional growth including but limited to other members of the leadership team such as Assistant Principals Coaches Department Heads.- Review schedules to ensure efficiency of time on learning for all students - Act as the Principal in their absence making decisions that uphold the schools mission and values.- Other duties as assigned by the School Principal QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Licensure as an Elementary School Principal/Assistant Principal 8-12 from the Massachusetts Department of Education- SEI Administrator endorsement- A minimum of a Masters Degree in an appropriate field.- A minimum of three years administration experience.- A minimum of five years successful teaching experience- Working knowledge of Massachusetts public education specifically in an urban setting administration/supervision and curriculum development.- Strong written and verbal skills for communicating with parents students teachers administrators community representatives and School Committee.- Strong knowledge and experience in observation and evaluation of staffPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Experience working with students with diverse needs- Experience working in a diverse education environment - Ability to speak Albanian Arabic Nepali Portuguese Spanish Vietnamese or an African Language and/or American Sign YEAR: This is a 215 days work year which includes the 185 teacher work year along with 30 additional days to be scheduled with the PrincipalWORK DAY: 7.5 hours plus a 30-minute unpaid lunchThis position is a grant funded three year position. SALARY: $150000
