Job Description

This role supports the analytical development team by performing routine and investigative testing using advanced LC-MS instrumentation. The LC-MS Scientist will play a key role in generating high-quality data troubleshooting instruments supporting method development and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards in a collaborative lab environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform LC-MS-based analytical testing with minimal supervision contributing to Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) System Suitability Testing (SST) and Analytical Quality Management (AQM) initiatives.
  • Prepare samples and mobile phases using solid-phase extraction (SPE) liquidliquid extraction (LLE) and supported liquid extraction (SLE) following established protocols.
  • Operate maintain and troubleshoot advanced LC-MS instrumentation including Agilent UPLC systems (SQ TOF QTOF) and Thermo platforms (UPLC Duo LC Orbitrap).
  • Analyze and interpret complex data using tools such as OpenLab ChemStation MassHunter Xcalibur and Chromeleon; ensure accuracy and integrity of results through sound scientific judgment.
  • Support method development optimization and validation in collaboration with senior scientists.
  • Document all experimental activities results and observations in electronic laboratory notebooks and data systems with a strong emphasis on data integrity.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of sample preparation procedures quality control processes and laboratory best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support lab operations safety initiatives and compliance with regulatory and internal quality standards.
  • Proactively seek out training opportunities to expand technical knowledge and support professional growth in LC-MS and related analytical techniques.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Analytical Chemistry Biochemistry Chemistry or a related scientific field
  • 34 years of industry experience in an analytical laboratory environment
  • Proven hands-on experience with LC-MS systems including troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Familiarity with HPLC UPLC and LC-MS instrumentation with specific experience using Agilent UPLC systems
  • Proficiency in OpenLab ChemStation or equivalent data acquisition and processing software
  • Strong understanding of mobile phase preparation and sample extraction techniques
  • Experience conducting System Suitability Testing (SST) and interpreting associated statistical metrics
  • Working knowledge of Automated Quality Management (AQM) systems and relevant statistical tools
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to safety protocols and laboratory best practices
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and willingness to learn and apply new techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with advanced LC-MS instrumentation including:
    • Agilent: SQ TOF QTOF systems
    • Thermo: UPLC Duo LC Orbitrap platforms
  • Proficiency with analytical software platforms:
    • MassHunter Xcalibur Chromeleon
  • Experience with analytical methods including:
    • Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
    • Method development and validation
    • RNA and oligonucleotide analysis

Additional Details: 

This is a full-time onsite position based on a first-shift schedule (Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) with overtime required as needed. Candidates located within a commutable distance to Boston MA are strongly encouraged to apply.
