The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is seeking a proactive and compassionate Health and Well-being Adviser to support and promote the mental health and overall well-being of staff across all EMBL sites. You will be instrumental in building a positive workplace culture of openness and trust to foster general employee job satisfaction engagement morale and happiness with a particular focus on mental health and support for staff with diverse needs including those related to mental health disability and neurodiversity.
You will be part of the Health & Safety team and report to the Head of the Health & Safety Office. You will liaise closely with other departments including Human Resources Equality Diversity & Inclusion and the Ombuds Office. You will be based at the Headquarters in Heidelberg but your work will support all six EMBL sites.
Your role
Contribute to the development of an occupational health management programme and lead its implementation with senior advice.
Contribute to assessing staffs well-being in order to suggest targeted solutions in collaboration with colleagues.
Coordinate EMBLs mental health working group; initiate topics and manage follow-up.
Manage reintegration cases including liaising with HR and managers.
Provide guidance to staff experiencing physical or mental health challenges referring them to appropriate professionals as needed.
Assist staff with disabilities or neurodiverse conditions by supporting workplace adaptation and inclusion.
Organise mental health awareness campaigns training sessions and well-being initiatives.
Coordinate health promotion activities.
Support HR in identifying external medical professionals to represent EMBL on the internal Rehabilitation Board as needed.
Perform additional duties as required by the Head of the Health & Safety Office.
You have
A university degree in occupational health psychology or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering well-being or mental health programmes events or assessments.
Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to present well in writing and orally both in English.
Empathetic positive and solution-oriented mindset.
Ability to assess the best approach in dealing with others and to build and maintain positive relationships with people.
Competence to build rapport and communicate across a broad range of backgrounds.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
High level of flexibility discretion confidentiality and professional integrity.
Proficient IT skills and ability to work with digital tools and systems.
You may also have
Experience in setting up occupational health management systems.
German French Spanish and/or Italian language skills.
Contract length: 3 years (renewable up to 9)
Salary: Grade 5 (salary starting from 4.03102 EUR monthly after tax before 12% EMBL social security dedcutions)
