The hiring rate for this position is $30.00 per hour.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading multiple group fitness classes that range in variety and levels. This position serves as a resource to educate students on fitness and wellness and is responsible in ensuring the safety of the students.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver group fitness classes that are motivating and fun.
- Effectively teach group fitness classes that begin and end on time are effective and safe in nature.
- Elevate the student experience by engaging with them and helping them with their fitness journey.
- Observe and adjust the approach to support the participants capabilities physical conditions and health.
- Keep up to date on wellness trends to provide effective information and classes to the students.
- Communicate any potential customer and/or facility needs to the Director Student Engagement and Assistant Director - Athletics and Recreation.
- Ensures that safety standards are met and that facility policies are adhered to.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Previous experience teaching group fitness classes.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must hold a valid and current CPR/AED Certification.
- Must hold a valid and current Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor Certification (Group Fitness Instructor Certification can be general or for a specific discipline such as Yoga Zumba Spin Kickboxing etc.).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two (2) years of experience teaching group fitness classes.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must have a high level of energy to motivate class participants.
- Excellent communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must have a flexible schedule with evening availability during the week and weekends if needed.
- Able to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Able to bend stoop or reach as needed.
