NOW HIRING:
Courier/Park Inspector
The Courier is responsible for the pick-up and delivery of miscellaneous supplies materials interoffice correspondence and daily bank deposits for all Park District facilities. The Park Inspector performs inspections of all playgrounds play equipment and park areas. This is a full-time hourly non-exempt position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of a standard high school course or equivalent and minimum one year experience driving an automobile or any equivalent combination of education experience and training that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Skills must include comprehensive knowledge of safe driving habits an awareness of safety-related issues and a strong work ethic.
The Park Inspector must possess or obtain within 6 months of hire training related to playground safety and inspections. Some knowledge of park grounds and facility practices and knowledge of pertinent safety precautions along with the ability to operate light maintenance equipment to make simple adjustments and to perform simple maintenance on equipment is helpful.
Must possess a valid Illinois Drivers License.

ABOUT US
The Oak Lawn Park District incorporated in 1944 has a long and proud history of serving the recreational needs of our 56000 residents with a myriad of recreational programs and services. We operate under the state tax cap as a municipal corporation meaning we are our own taxing body. Overseen by a Board of five elected officials the District manages a combination of 34 parks and facilities which cover over 280 addition we manage a Special Recreation Cooperative that offers recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities in 9 municipalities.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
Superintendent of Parks and Planning and Superintendent of Finance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Delivers and picks up accounting and administrative materials from all Park locations daily.
Delivers Board Member materials as required.
Maintains daily log of all deposits delivers deposits to bank and returns deposit information to Administrative office.
Takes change orders to bank and delivers to facilities.
Weekly/monthly inspections of all playground and park areas.
Will check all safety aspects of new or existing playgrounds play equipment courts and fields including playground borders surfaces paint on play equipment benches picnic tables basketball backboards baseball player benches and backstops courts nets and pathways.
Responsible for graffiti removal.
Responsible for monthly inspections of satellite facilities.
Submits reports of inspection and any repairs that need to be made on a weekly/monthly basis.
Safely operates agency vehicles.
Maintains and provides proper care of transportation vehicle.
Assists in set-up and clean-up of satellite facilities.
Performs office duties including but not limited to logging graffiti and inspection reports.
Participates in Summer and Winter weekend job rotation.
Works Park District events including 4th of July and Halloween and others as needed.
Assists in snow removal from parks pathways sidewalks driveways and parking lots.
If a major event occurs that limits park district operations or forces a park district shut down and restricts employee from performing their normal job duties they may be assigned to duties outside of their job description as warranted by the situation.
Assist in fulfilling agencys mission vision and strategic plan including attending any related meetings or performing any related job duties
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Attends safety classes.
Obey and enforce the practical safety rules regulations and procedures established by the safety program that is pertinent to the activities conducted by the department.
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Prolonged periods of standing.
Prolonged periods of sitting.
Repetitive work including frequent in and out of vehicles.
Frequent climbing kneeling squatting and crawling.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
Exposure to rain snow ice heat cold and other extreme weather conditions for long periods.

Must be able to have good safety awareness.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Must be certified in CPR/1st Aid/AED or willing to become certified within a specified time frame.
