  • Portland Public Schools: Technology Supervisor and Student Information System (SIS) Coordinator

    Portland Public Schools a collaborative student-centered district focused on innovation and community partnerships is seeking a knowledgeable collaborative and solution-oriented Technology Supervisor and Student Information System (SIS) Coordinator to lead the planning implementation and maintenance of district-wide technology initiatives and oversee the accurate management of student information systems. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the reliability of our technology infrastructure while supporting instructional and operational goals.

    The essential duties and responsibilities:

    Technology Supervision

    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Technology Department.

    • Develop and manage long term technology infrastructure planning.

    • Lead collaborate with and provide professional development opportunities to IT team members.

    • Supervise the management and maintenance of all network infrastructure district devices and software applications.

    • Monitor and manage cybersecurity protocols data privacy compliance and disaster recovery protocols.

    • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to support district initiatives.

    • Support district security infrastructure and system protocols.

    • Coordinate technology purchasing licensing inventory and lifecycle management.

    Student Information System (SIS) Coordination

    • Serve as the district lead for the Student Information System.

    • Support and collaborate with administrative staff on SIS processes including student enrollment scheduling grade management and attendance processes.

    • Support the processes for accurate and timely data reporting in compliance with state and federal requirements.

    • Generate reports and troubleshoot data discrepancies across systems.

    • Support integration of SIS with other software applications.

    • Train and support end users on SIS functionality and data integrity procedures.

    Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science Educational Technology or a related field.

    • Minimum of 35 years of experience in technology support or systems coordination; supervisory experience preferred.

    • Strong knowledge of SIS platforms and state reporting requirements.

    • Excellent problem-solving organizational and communication skills.

    • Experience working in an educational environment is highly desirable.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and support end users with varying technical skill levels.

    • Familiarity with Michigan pupil accounting and required state reporting processes (e.g. MSDS TSDL SRM) preferred.

    • Experience with Google Workspace for Education Microsoft Windows and mobile device management (MDM) preferred.

    • Experience with cybersecurity protocols preferred.

    • Knowledge of E-rate processes and technology grant management preferred.

    • MSBO Chief Technology Officer certification preferred.

    Position Details:

    • Title: Technology Supervisor and Student Information System (SIS) Coordinator

    • Reports to: Associate Superintendent of Finance and Operations

    • Calendar: Full-Time Year-Round

    • Compensation: $65000-$72000 based on experience plus benefits education stipend MSBO Stipend
