The Network Technician is responsible for the installation configuration maintenance and troubleshooting of an organizations IT infrastructure including networking equipment servers operating systems and security solutions. This position plays a key role in supporting network and system improvements managing assets ensuring data confidentiality and assisting with cybersecurity initiatives. Continuous skill development and collaboration with IT teams and vendors is essential in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install configure document maintain support and troubleshoot infrastructure and server technology including but not limited to:
- Networking equipment (Routers Switches Firewalls Wireless Access Points and any other specialty network devices).
- Servers (Virtual and Physical) SANs and Appliances.
- Present and future client/server operating systems
- Directory Services LDAP and Active Directory.
- Backup and disaster recovery.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting tools antivirus remediation
- Network printers and copiers.
- Assist with server operating system and software application installation and upgrades.
- Assist with maintaining and verifying backup servers/systems.
- Assist with the management of security solutions including firewall anti-virus and intrusion detection systems.
- Assist with the management of all network hardware and equipment.
- Coordinate network asset management including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Maintain industry best practices on server security backups and recovery.
- Support network and system improvements upgrades and repairs.
- Assist with development documentation and training on hardware installation and troubleshooting procedures.
- Support and assist with cybersecurity initiatives for PGSD including supporting incident responses.
- Continuously expand upon current skill set by attending required training.
- Provide immediate communications of all issues involving security beaches or breakdowns in addition to any other areas as defined by the Director of Technology
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed stored or accessed by the systems.
- Maintain system end-user documentation and business rules.
- Maintain current knowledge and a base understanding of internal and external client systems and new technologies.
- Preserve and maintain good relationships with all staff Technology team vendors and statewide counterparts.
- Act as substitute technician in the event a technician is absent.
- Provide regular status reports on current projects and initiatives to the Network Engineer
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Network Engineer or Director of Technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum certifications: current CompTIA A or Network
- Optional: BS or BA degree in related technical field preferred or technology industry certification such as CCNA or MCSA or a corresponding number of years experience in system or network administration.
- Technical training or education in system and network administration.
- 3 - 4 years of work experience and additional advanced study preferred.
