Job Description

TheMontana State Library (MSL)is seeking applications for a Montana Shared Catalog Systems Administrator.This is a full-time permanent position that is eligible for all applicable state benefits and retirement. The position is located in Helena or as a remote work option within the State of Montana.

Who is the State Library

MSL is an agency of the Montana state government. We employ a staff of 50 professionals who are dedicated to providing state-wide library information and support state government information natural resources information and geographic information for all Montanans. We support the development and excellence of Montanas public libraries and reading materials for individuals with visual or physical disabilities. We provide open free and transparent data to support the states land water and natural resources programs. Our culture is based on values of service to our users transparency and trust. The State Library is a modern 21st century library.

What will you be doing

Consortia & System Support of the MT Shared Catalog Integrated Library System

You will manage and resolve help desk requests that are received via a ticketing system phone or email in a timely manner that minimizes service interruptions for member libraries. Resolution may require research into system configurations and parameters and related library technology along with collaboration with vendor support. You will work collaboratively with the Shared Catalog team to develop best practices standards follow up procedures and system maintenance and procedure documentation.

Communications

Customer assistance and problem resolution are usually provided in a remote environment. You must be able to communicate information accurately and helpfully to individuals with varying degrees of systems knowledge. What are we looking for

We are seeking someone who is a creative problem solver with technology systems has experience working with a sophisticated library automation system able to provide a full range of technical end user support and who has a commitment to supporting Montana libraries. We require an Associates degree in database management principals and two (2) years of experience working with databases (or a combination of education and work equivalent). Preference will be given to applicants with experience with library systems and providing user support.
