WHAT DOES A MANAGER AREA CUSTODIAL OPERATIONS DO:
Plans and directs the work of a major section engaged in providing custodial services for a number of facilities in an assigned geographic or functional area and administers the preparation for new facility dedications.

Essential Job Functions


What are some responsibilities of a Manager Area Custodial Operations:

Plans assigns directs and evaluates the work of supervisory staff and subordinates performing custodial maintenance work; monitors quality and quantity of work and takes corrective action as necessary.

Participates in the development of departmental policies and standards governing custodial operations safety training and employee performance; interprets and administers such policies and standards; and establishes job priorities within the area assigned.

Interviews and selects supervisory and journey level personnel; investigates and prepares written responses to employee grievances; recommend disciplinary action when indicated; serves as witness for the department in matters before the Civil Service Commission and Employee Relations Commission.

Maintains control on the ordering issuing storage safeguarding and use of custodial supplies and equipment used in the assigned area; investigates and implements or recommends solutions to problems relating to the security of supplies and equipment.

Meets with building managers or officials from other departments to coordinate custodial maintenance services and to discuss and reach agreement on cleaning requirements.

Prepares and submits budget requests for the assigned geographic area and directs the allocation of resources to accomplish budget objective.

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
Three (3) years experience supervising employees performing cleaning duties in an institution* office building or similar facility at the level of Custodian Supervisor**

*Institutions are defined as but not limited to healthcare facilities schools or gyms.

**Experience at the level of the County of Los Angeles class of
Custodian Supervisor is defined as: Supervises the work of a janitorial crew.

LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS II LIGHT:
This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending stooping or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience based upon application information and desirable qualifications weighted 100%.

The passing score for the assessment is 70%.

ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION:
Applications are processed as they are received and added to the eligible register accordingly.

Candidates who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a register in order of their score group for a period of (12) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies throughout the Department of Health Services as they occur.

NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.
