Job Description

The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associate positions during the 2025-2026 academic year. Faculty Associates are part-time adjunct faculty who are hired on one-semester renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester either in-person or online.

Faculty Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits sabbaticals or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

For this position we seek to attract a pool of candidates who will teach one or two undergraduate or graduate in-person and/or online courses in Special Events Management and who is a content matter expert in the course topic. The courses in the Special Event Management program include Introduction to Special Events Management; Special Event On-Site Operations and Logistics; Food and Beverage; Revenue Generation; Advanced Special Events Management; Entertainment Event Technology Protocol and Programming for Special Events; and Event Marketing and Promotion. SCRD is located at ASUs Downtown Phoenix campus a dynamic hub of the multi-campus Arizona State University that provides a multitude of academic and professional connections for students. We provide internationally recognized interdisciplinary research expertise and innovative academic programs in community development therapeutic recreation nonprofit leadership and management parks recreation and sport management and tourism development and management. Courses are delivered through in-person online and hybrid platforms.

Job Responsibilities

The role requires someone who can deliver engaging in-person (and/or online) lectures discussions and content contribute to the creation of assignments and exams evaluate and grade student work manage Canvas learning management platform and hold office hours to assist students. Courses are developed and have been taught multiple times with a well-defined syllabus outlining purpose content readings and assignments. Local applicants may apply to teach either online or in-person courses. Worldwide applicants may apply to teach online courses. Required Qualifications

An earned masters degree in parks and recreation events conventions and meeting planning or a related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.

Three years of related experience (prior teaching and/or practitioner experience).

Consistent with ASUs Charter a demonstrated commitment to inclusion.

Desired Qualifications

Prior higher education teaching or guest lecturing experience preferred.

Experience facilitating student-led classroom discussions.

Prior online teaching experience.

Evidence of effective collaboration skills.

Experience with technology/course management systems.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
