Job Description

Overview

About the Role:

As an intermediate-level clinician you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized therapy plans for patients with sensory-motor or neuromotor challenges.
  • Implement and supervise therapy programs that promote functional independence and quality of life.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic coordinated care.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) Rehabilitation Aides and students/volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with professional standards.

Professional Growth & Leadership:

  • Begin to develop advanced proficiency in one or more clinical specialty areas.
  • Partner with leadership to design and deliver staff training programs related to your area of specialization.
  • Take part in key program functions such as student training performance improvement initiatives and staff onboarding.

Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate assigned patients using acquired information about the patients functional skills roles and context. Prioritize needs and analyze information obtained from the occupational profile to begin the treatment planning process.
  2. Develop treatment plans consistent with best practices well-grounded in evidence and utilizing clinical reasoning.
  3. Execute client-centered meaningful compassionate culturally sensitive and effective treatment plans that progress client towards long term goals.
  4. Select well-reasoned intervention strategies and approaches that are developmentally appropriate meaningful and support the appropriate frame of reference/model.
  5. Recognize and consistently respond in a therapeutic manner to environmental stressors challenging client behaviors and the multiple demands of working in a pediatric setting.
  6. Collaborate with patients and families for identification of occupational therapy needs and prioritization of treatment goals and plans with provision of written guidance to caregivers as appropriate.
  7. Produce documentation that is thorough objective pertinent organized free from grammatical and spelling errors concise clinically accurate readable for multiple audiences and in adherence to Institute department American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and Maryland state Occupational Therapy guidelines.
  8. Actively collaborate in inter/intra- disciplinary and supervisory relationships demonstrating initiative effective listening good judgment to manage time and caseload and communication with peers and supervisors that is professional and respectful.
  9. Actively take a role in ensuring that schedule template is up to date schedule is full and make-up sessions are offered as needed. Proactively and respectfully work with Care Center and supervisor to anticipate schedule needs and changes while meeting productivity standards.
  10. May supervise affiliating students visitors COTAs Rehabilitation Aides and Rehabilitation Techs while fostering professional development of supervisee.
  11. Perform set-up and clean-up of treatment supplies and treatment space adhering to all policies and procedures related to safety and infection control guidelines.
  12. Utilize good fiscal judgement with expendable supplies and order requests.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Maryland.
  • Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited school of occupational therapy required.
  • Masters degree highly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three years of experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist required with a minimum of two years of pediatric/rehab specialty.
