The Division of Pediatric Neurology at Childrens Health Dallas and The University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center is seeking a Pediatric Epileptologist with expertise in epilepsy surgery to join our team.
The Division of Pediatric Neurology includes over 30 pediatric neurologists and offers pediatric fellowships in: Epilepsy Intracranial EEG Clinical Neurophysiology Autoimmune Neurology Vascular Neurology Neurodevelopmental Disorders Neuromuscular Medicine Movement Disorders Neonatal Neurocritical Care and Headache.
Our Comprehensive Epilepsy Center features a 10-bed epilepsy monitoring unit at the main Childrens Health campus in Dallas and a 6-bed monitoring unit at the Plano campus.
Each year we perform over 50 intracranial epilepsy surgeries including stereo EEG laser interstitial thermal ablation and 2023 our epilepsy center handled more than 10000 epilepsy outpatient visits performed over 4000 routine EEGs and conducted over 3000 days of EMU and long-term VEEG monitoring interpretations.
A qualified candidate will have training in presurgical evaluations and surgical planning within a multidisciplinary epilepsy management team. They should demonstrate clinical expertise in evaluating and treating patients in the epilepsy subspecialty clinic; evaluating and treating patients in the epilepsy monitoring unit including those with intracranial recordings; interpreting and reporting EEGs including short and long-term inpatient outpatient and ambulatory EEG recordings as well as EEGs in critically ill patients; teaching residents and fellows.
Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology and have completed a fellowship in neurophysiology or epilepsy specifically with surgical training. Leadership experience strong clinical skills and a commitment to teaching and research are highly desired.
