Meyer Engineers is looking for a QA/QC Representative in the Comite area.
The selected candidate will be employed by Meyer and serve as a QAR contracted by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
The employee in this position will follow standard procedures to verify contract compliance and document their observations on USACE construction projects. The QAR will be responsible for completing a daily Quality Assurance report contractor work performed any pertinent conversations with the construction contractor Quality Assurance inspections and safety inspections. The QAR will report directly to Meyers Project Manager. The inspector will assist with office work such as plotting cross-sections and computing earthwork quantities. The inspector will report directly to the Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of and experience with excavation placement of compacted and semi-compacted embankment rip rap placement installation of storm drainage structures and roadway construction
Typical USACE construction projects are levees floodwalls pump stations and other flood protection structures throughout southern Louisiana. Qualifications include a thorough understanding of civil construction projects and the ability to read contract documents participate in meetings and document activities on the job site. Some duties include monitoring and reporting on Contractors Quality Control Program following the USACE Quality Assurance Plan performing daily safety reviews and tracking quantities for pay estimates and change orders.
Essential Functions of the Position
1. Maintains required reports of construction inspection activities
2. Conduct all work activities in compliance with Thompson Holdings Inc. Health Safety & Environmental Management System safety policies & procedures safety execution plans and Job Safety and Environmental Analyses as well as the USACE Safety Manual EM
3. Attend and pro-actively participate in monthly safety meetings project toolbox safety meetings and safety moments.
4. Ensures on time and regular attendance

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Four year degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
2. Valid Drivers License.
3. Computer skills that include Word Excel and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
1. Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time
2. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
3. Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day
4. Must be able to bend stoop and climb on a ladder
5. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
