Job Description

With offices in London Toronto Strathroy and Kitchener Lerners provides a full range of legal services throughout Southwestern Ontario. Lerners is seeking aLaw Clerkto support theReal Estate and Land Developmentand Business Law practice groups in the London Ontario office. Entry-level to early-career professionals are encouraged to apply. This is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of 3 days in office or as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Opening & closing files.
  • Conducting conflict searches.
  • Inputting files into Unity.
  • Commercial real estate and financing transactions.
  • Ordering title searches title insurance policies corporate searches and municipal reports when following waiver of conditions on transactions.
  • Ordering mortgage and other payout statements for sale & mortgage transactions.
  • Preparing documents for real estate and financing transactions as well as closing the transactions.
  • Finalizing reports to both clients and financial institutions.
  • Billings.
  • Following up on undertakings and outstanding items on files.
  • Reviewing updating and maintaining minute books completing assessments and preparing annual resolutions and other corporate documents from time to time.
  • Assisting in drafting and preparation of corporate documents.
  • Preparation and filing of documentation as required.
  • Maintaining an effective BF system.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum1-5 years of law clerk experience is preferred with a demonstrated interest in the areas of residential and commercial real estate. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn new subject matter and skills.
  • Knowledge of Teraview and the requirements of Teraview with respect to title and Unity matters.
  • College diploma or university degree in related field an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
