*The salary amounts provided represent the minimum and maximum ranges based on years of current agency service plus incentive structures at SCDC. It is important to note that not all individuals may qualify for the highest tier of base pay adjustments and incentives.

Broad River Secure Facility $2500 Incentive

  • Maintain and report inmate count and daily logs; prepare and submit miscellaneous reports.
  • Maintain surveillance and search for contraband.
  • Maintain and inspect building for cleanliness and sanitation; requisition and direct issuance of supplies tools and equipment; maintain inventory of equipment.
  • Ensure that inmates receive prescribed treatment including medical and behavioral prescriptions.
  • Maintain and operate security devices in a security setting such as gates and doors weapons and mechanical devices.
  • Report inmate complaints so that appropriate action may be taken.
  • Serve as backup for any dorm/building dispute requiring assistance and crisis intervention; make reports to appropriate personnel.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have 12 months experience in corrections
  • Must a U.S. Citizen
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Tattoos: Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more or a fine of $1000.
  • Must pass a physical examination administered by SCDC.

Additional Comments


Additional Requirements: 12 months experience in corrections. Incumbent must satisfactorily complete all academics and on the job training by the Department of Corrections as specified. Must have completed Defensive Driving Training and cannot be on the No Drive List and or the No Draw List with SCDC.
