Are you ready to take your career to the next level Alcohol Law Enforcement is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Special Agent in Charge (District IV - Garner).

This is anINTERNAL POSTINGopenONLYfor current employees of the NC Department of Public Safetys current employees and eligible RIF candidates.

Selected applicantmustbe willing to move to (if not currently residing) and live within the boundaries of District IV - Garner; OR at a location that will allow you to respond to ALE District IV Headquarters Office located at 505 N. Greenfield Parkway Suite 130 Garner NC 27529within one hour and 15 minutes.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits. This position will require shift work travel and possible overtime.

About theAlcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) Division:
ALE is a division of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Alcohol Law Enforcement Special Agents have statewide jurisdiction to investigate any criminal offense and make arrests within the State of North Carolina. ALE is the lead enforcement agency for the states alcoholic beverage control lottery and tobacco laws. As such ALE special agents target problem ABC-licensed and illegal establishments that serve as havens for violence drugs gang activity organized crime money laundering and other criminal activity.

The mission of the Alcohol Law Enforcement Division is to reduce crime and enhance public safety throughout the State of North Carolina. This mission is accomplished through the proactive fair and consistent enforcement of the state laws related to alcoholic beverage control gambling tobacco controlled substances and nuisance abatement as well as other criminal and regulatory matters in the interest of health and public safety.

Additional Salary and Benefits information are available on our website at primary purpose of this position is to manage the activities of NC Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) Division personnel assigned to a field district. This position plans coordinates directs and manages the activities of subordinates assigned to the district/section in the pursuit of the statutorily assigned or delegated missions and activities of the ALE Division.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. If that language appears below then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience OR a combination of both. See details.


Six years of experience as an Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent; or eight years of total sworn law enforcement experience including at least four years of experience as an Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent; or an equivalent combination of experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications:Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. Must have graduated from the ALE Academy and meet all applicable North Carolina state statutory standards for law enforcement officers.

IMPORTANT!Law Enforcement experience must be full-time with full arrest authority to be considered.(NOTE: Correctional and Detention Officer experience does NOT qualify for full-arrest authority unless specifically documented.)
