Under the supervision of a physician and following written guidelines of protocol the incumbent will perform medical examinations selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and other special procedures to assist in the delivery of primary care to patients of the Ventura County Health Care Agency - Ambulatory Careon the weekends only.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This class is distinguished from other nursing classes in that incumbents perform specialized examinations of patients make basic diagnoses and decide on a treatment plan as allowable under a State of California Nurse Practitioner License.
EDUCATIONAL/BILINGUAL INCENTIVE:Some positions may be eligible for educational incentive. This incentive may be 2.5% 3.5% or 5% for incumbents in eligible positions based on completion of an Associates Bachelors or Masters degree that is not required for the classification. Incumbents may also be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.
CERTIFICATION PAY: Incumbents in a Per Diem classification are eligible for certification pay at a rate of $0.813 per hour based on his or her scheduled work week hours and not to exceed the scheduled work week hours for each qualified certification possessed up to a maximum of five (5) certifications.
WEEKEND PAY:Per Diem Employees who works a weekend shift shall receive in addition to all other compensation allowed for in CNA Per Diem Unit 2024-2029 two dollars ($2.00) per hour for all hours worked during the weekend shift. Weekend shift hours fall in the period between 11:00 p.m. Friday and 7:00 a.m. Monday.

Per Diem Primary Care Clinic Nurse Practitioner is represented by the California Nurses Association (CNA) and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
NOTE:Salary placement will be determined according to the current CNA memorandum of agreement.
The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Intermittent and Per Diem vacancies within the Health Care Agency. There are currentlytwo (2) Per Diem vacancies within the Ambulatory Care clinicsfor the weekend shifts only.

EDUCATION TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
Requires a masters degree in nursing or a clinical field related to nursing per the Business and Professions Code of California Article 8 Section 2835.5.
