About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring AVID Elective Teacher to join our this role you will empower students to reach their full academic potential and prepare them for success in college career and beyond. Through a focus on WICOR strategies: Writing Inquiry Collaboration Organization and Reading you will cultivate a rigorous yet supportive learning environment that builds student confidence and fosters a college-going culture.

Core Responsibilities

Deliver AVID Curriculum

  • Implement AVIDs research-based strategies to strengthen academic skills and promote college and career readiness.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

Promote College & Career Exploration

  • Motivate students to enroll in honors AP or dual-credit courses.

Build a Supportive Learning Community

  • Develop strong trusting relationships with students.

  • Provide consistent academic coaching and personal mentorship.

Collaborate with Key Stakeholders

  • Work closely with the department team content teachers families and guidance to provide integrated student support.

  • Contribute to interdisciplinary planning and department/team meetings.

Engage in Ongoing Professional Development

  • Attend AVID Summer Institutes workshops and site-based training.

  • Continuously reflect on and improve instructional practice.


Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of AVID methodologiesand a commitment to equitable student-centered instruction

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skillswith students families and colleagues

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities with a focus on accountability and follow-through

  • Growth mindset and belief in every students potential especially first-generation college-goers

  • Adaptability and teamwork with a willingness to learn and collaborate in a dynamic school environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in an AVID program or familiarity with WICOR strategies.

  • Bachelors degree in education or related field; teaching certification preferred.

  • Prior experience working in diverse high-needs school communities.
