We are hiring a Laboratory Technician for a long-term contract role supporting a high-performing refinery team in Lake Charles. This position offers full-time hours hands-on experience and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in daily operations. While this role begins as a contract position we are truly looking for someone who wants to grow with us - and the right candidate will be strongly considered for full-time employment.
What Youll Do:
- Conduct and document quality assurance testing to ensure reliable accurate lab results.
- Support the refinerys safety and loss control programs through high-quality analytical testing.
- Apply laboratory methods industry standards and regulatory requirements with precision.
- Solve technical issues creatively using your scientific background and practical experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver fast accurate and actionable data.
- Practice strong communication teamwork and problem-solving every day.
- Take accountability for your work demonstrating a commitment to excellence and detail.
- Put safety and environmental responsibility first in everything you do.
- Follow all lab protocols safety policies and regulatory standards (local state and federal).

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Available to work 12-hour rotating shifts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Physically and functionally able (with or without accommodation) to:
- Work overtime
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Work around chemicals and petroleum products
- Wear PPE including flame-resistant gear and respiratory protection (must be clean-shaven where required)
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Use lab-specific computer systems and software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Chemical Technology Bachelors in a scientific field or 16 hours of Chemistry coursework
- 2 years of experience in a lab or industrial testing environment
- Strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills
