Job Description

Under the direction of scientists and technicians, the contractor is responsible for supporting the Microbial Repository. Under supervision, the contractor is expected to perform routine and non-routine tasks including but not limited to ordering supplies, cleaning and organizing lab areas, performing manual liquid transfers, operating automated liquid handlers, and storing and retrieving samples from freezers and shakers. The contractor will be responsible for picking samples from freezers for delivery to customers. Given a lighter workload in the Microbial Repository, the contractor may be expected to support activities and complete assigned tasks in other laboratories. The ideal candidate needs to be able to collaborate closely with the Microbial Repository technicians and scientists and complete tasks under their supervision to ensure effective day-to-day operations.

  • Good communication and time management skills are essential to this role.
  • Prior experience in microbiology, biotechnology, biology, or related field are required.
  • Prior experience using aseptic technique is required.
  • Prior experience with automation is a plus.
