The Opportunity
As GLIDEs Controller you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial infrastructure of a dynamic $31M organization. Beyond ensuring operational excellence in accounting youll be a key thought partner to senior leadership supporting complex program operations multi-stream revenue management and long-term financial sustainability. You will lead a high-performing team and collaborate across departments to strengthen systems processes and financial transparency organization-wide.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Financial Leadership: Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to develop multi-year financial plans and forecasting models that support GLIDEs strategic financial analysis and scenario planning to guide organizational decision-making and liquidity management across restricted unrestricted and endowment funds.
    • Complex Accounting & Compliance Oversight: Manage all accounting activities including disbursements payables cash receipts accounts receivable general ledger and fixed accounting for complex funding streams including government contracts donor-restricted grants and endowment compliance with GAAP federal state and local regulatory requirements as well as specific City of San Francisco contractual proper tracking and reporting of donor-restricted gifts and releases from all external auditsfederal state city financialand desk reviews ensuring day-one the integrity and validity of all business and accounting records in compliance with records retention Accounting & Compliance Oversight: Manage all accounting activities including disbursements payables cash receipts accounts receivable general ledger and fixed accounting for complex funding streams including government contracts donor-restricted grants and endowment compliance with GAAP federal state and local regulatory requirements as well as specific City of San Francisco contractual proper tracking and reporting of donor-restricted gifts and releases from all external auditsfederal state city financialand desk reviews ensuring day-one the integrity and validity of all business and accounting records in compliance with records retention policies.
    • Government Contracts & RFP Support: Collaborate with program and development teams to support government contract applications and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) by providing accurate financial data budgets and systems and processes are in place to meet complex reporting and compliance requirements of government Senior director of Finance with post-award financial management including tracking allowable costs indirect cost recovery and timely invoicing to funders.
    • Systems & Process Transformation: Lead optimization integration and management of financial systems (e.g. Sage Intacct Concur Adaptive Insights) to support scalability and organizational opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency accuracy and financial with HR and IT to align systems and workflows across departments.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Development to ensure accurate tracking of pledges contributions and grant with program leaders and business unit managers to support effective program implementation and budget financial education and consultation to internal stakeholders to strengthen organizational financial literacy.
    • Board and Committee Support: Prepare and present financial reports and dashboards for the Board of Directors and its Finance Investment and Audit the CFO in responding to Board inquiries and ensuring fiduciary responsibilities are met.
    • Team Leadership: Supervise and develop the accounting team (Senior Accountant and two Staff Accountants) fostering professional growth and a collaborative high-performing team strengths while clarifying roles and responsibilities to maximize internal communications and promote a positive supportive work environment across all levels.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (Masters or CPA strongly preferred).
    • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting leadership experience; experience in nonprofit or government grant accounting highly desirable.
    • Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP government cost principles and multi-stream revenue management.
    • Proven success managing audits compliance and reporting in complex environments.
    • Hands-on expertise with financial systems (Sage Intacct or MIP preferred) Concur Adaptive Insights and advanced Excel skills.
    • Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to translate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
    • Support and embrace One GLIDE philosophy and day-one ready preparedness.

Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to work on a computer and see details of objects at close range.
    • Ability to hear within normal range and communicate effectively (in person telephone or Zoom).
    • Finger dexterity and the ability to use all standard office equipment.
    • Sit or stand comfortably and the ability to navigate throughout office spaces (via elevator or stairs).

Work Environment:

    • Hybrid work flexibility (in-office presence 4 days/1 day remote work).

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) Exempt role.
