The main purpose of the National Engineering Managers role is to ensure a safe and compliant LGV Fleet with maximum asset availability allowing Culina Group depots to deliver a first-rate service to our customers. Part of this role also ensures the service providers carrying out the work to keep the fleet compliant are working in a safe and legal environment.
There will be a requirement to travel within this role to attend sites and meetings across the UK.
Working hours: Monday to Friday 08.30-17.00
Key Duties of a National Engineering Manager:
- Leading the management of the VMUs for Culina Asset Management.
- Compiling capital plans and presenting to the board on future purchase strategies.
- Managing the weekly and periodic costs from suppliers and challenging any areas of opportunities.
- Ensuring financial reports are managed and accurate to budgets ensuring any overspends are mitigated and detail availability to support is available.
- Supporting the transport teams during peak periods to ensure fleet availability to be able to deliver operational excellence.
- Carrying our maintenance standards and compliance audits to ensure a safe and legal operation across LGV VMU workshops.
- Supporting fleet changes in the business bringing in new assets and decommissioning old fleet.
- Collaborating cross functionality with our fleet manufacturers maintenance suppliers and distribution centres to deliver great service levels.
- Leading and facilitating internal and external meetings providing clear direction and next steps.
- Compiling compliance KPI reports to share with key stakeholders ensuring they are maintained to agreed excellent standards.
- Assisting the management of the VOR daily and collaborating with internal and external suppliers.
- Supporting procurement in the contract negotiations for suppliers.
- Managing third party providers against VMU contract T&Cs.
Qualifications :
- Credibility and a track record of managing VMUs either in a fleet engineering management role or where fleet maintenance has been an import aspect of your remit.
- Proven LGV technical knowledge.
- IRTE or City & Guilds or CPC qualified would be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence suppliers and colleagues.
- Solid leadership ability to engage coach motivate and develop others to achieve results.
- Excellent attention to detail with competency using MS Office.
- Ability to analyse data interrogating our fleet maintenance platform.
- Proven ability to provide long term views on asset purchases whilst ensuring new technology and sustainability is at the forefront within our business.
- Transport Manager CPC or LGV 1 Driving Licence would be advantageous.
