Starting Wage:$ 16.25 hourly

Salary Schedule/Lane:86/H

JOB SUMMARY

The Sweeper II maintains an attractive sanitary and safe facility for students staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage loss and liability exposure.

Sweepers may be required to transfer between locations to fulfill department staffing needs.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.

Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

  1. Familiarity with methods of industrial cleaning; and safety practices and procedures
  2. Speak read write and present professionally analyze and interpret English written and verbal communications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

These are examples of skills and experience that the best qualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Previous custodial experience
  3. Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment
  4. Spanish or other language proficiency including ability to read write speak and understand

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Clean assigned school facilities (e.g. classrooms offices gym restrooms multipurpose rooms pools grounds etc.) to maintain a sanitary safe and attractive environment
  2. Sanitize restrooms according to departmental guidelines
  3. Arrange furnishings and equipment to provide adequate preparations for meetings classroom activities and events
  4. As needed stand for extended periods of time roll push pull bend reach stoop and lift up to 30 pounds
  5. Assist in securing facilities and grounds to minimize property damage equipment loss and potential liability to organization
  6. Attend in-service training (e.g. bloodborne pathogens cleaning solvents floor care first aid etc.) to receive information on new and improved procedures
  7. Participate in meetings workshops and seminars as assigned to convey and gather information required to perform functions
  8. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to perform the duties of the position effectively
  9. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required
  10. Work under limited supervision utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies accurately processing detailed information and meeting deadlines
  11. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and pulling up to 30 pounds some stooping kneeling crouching and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 0% sitting 50% walking and 50% job is performed under some temperature extremes and in a generally hazard free environment.
