Job Description
Job Summary: Responsible for performing routine and emergency tasks in the operation maintenance and repair of all heating ventilating refrigeration air conditioning and other mechanical power equipment. Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Inspects maintains and repairs HVAC systems. Inspects maintains and repairs ice making and refrigeration equipment. Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and restoring the function of HVAC or mechanical systems. Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations. Maintains vehicle tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Physical Demands
Work requires ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as exposure to disagreeable odors and environmental conditions; lifting (up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally); frequent bending pushing and pulling; occasional stooping; frequent carrying up to 50 pounds; and occasional lifting overhead up to 50 pounds. Work also requires the ability to see/read and distinguish colors and to hear and speak in order to receive and convey instructions. This position may be required to work overtime nights weekends or holidays in order to fulfill essential service requirements such as during inclement weather or other events.
Required Qualifications
Equivalent Education/Experience High school diploma or GED required. Valid Mechanical Journeymans license issued by State of Oklahoma required. Minimum 5 years of experience working in the HVAC field required. Valid drivers license required. EPA / CFC certification required. Knowledge/Skill/Ability Able to read blueprints and building control schematics. Basic mathematics skills including adding subtracting dividing and multiplying. Proficiency with smart devices such as cell phones and tablets including the ability to respond to messages and emails and to use apps such as a work order system. Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment complete projects by deadlines and act with a sense of urgency. Ability to communicate in order to give and receive information. A collaborative team player who can coordinate work effectively with employees team members and outside vendors. Strong customer service with a can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous HVAC /mechanical experience in an institutional or industrial setting such as a large hospital or university preferred. Previous experience servicing and maintaining high pressure boilers variable speed motors large tonnage centrifugal chillers (800 tons or larger) plate heat exchangers and water treatment systems preferred.
