Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Product and Marketing at JHT HQ Taiwan and dot-line report to the Director of Product Management Vision in USA the Senior Product Manager is someone who assists in developing product strategy constructs product briefs and builds a network of dealers and industry experts in alignment with company policies. Duties include market research product development support and marketing/sales support. This is a non-supervisory position.
Responsibilities:
Market Research:
Build and maintain a network of knowledgeable dealers and industry experts
Conduct regular visits to health clubs and vertical market facilities to gather user insights and interview staff and operators
Work regularly with service technicians and QA teams to gather product in-field issues
Organize and participate in focus groups
Attend at least three fitness and non-fitness industry trade shows regularly
Prepare and share detailed competitive reviews post-trade shows
Maintain up-to-date competitive analysis for assigned product categories
Innovation:
Identify potential product opportunities two to three years in advance
Bring two new concepts a year to the R&D center for further research
Plan and execute new platform key technology projects
Come out at least one patentable item or product proposal yearly
Product Development Support:
Provide directions of new platform or key technology project development to RD team and work with industrial designers to select the best ID
Work with the product team at HQ Taiwan closely to develop advanced projects prior to an NPD project kicking off
Plan and execute product development that will grow Vision sales of overall business
Develop comprehensive product briefs and new product proposals
Manage products or projects through development process from cradle to grave
Review unit sales statistics periodically for understanding a product or product category sales performed to imitate a product improvement or a new project proposal
Working with JHT JIS and JIV (internal) and manufacturing partners (external) engineering and manufacturing teams for product development
Marketing/Sales Support:
Craft compelling product stories and feature/benefit narratives
Train sale team and dealers on why their products are the best in class
Collaborate with sales to develop customer centric solutions
Put Vision brand sales goal as personal goal
Education:
BS or MBA plus (business marketing or related field) required or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Both engineering and business degrees are preferred
Experience:
5-7 years of product sales or service experience in the fitness industry required
5 or more years of product management in another consumer industry preferred
Other Requirements:
Proficiency in Excel Word PowerPoint required
Project management experience required
Domestic local and international travel required
Understanding of basic biomechanics
